In the United States alone, an estimated 4.7 million people are suffering from the autoimmune disorder referred to as alopecia areata. This condition causes thinning of the hair, bald patches or even total hair loss from the head, ears, nose and even body hair. There is no known cure yet for alopecia areata but new studies revealed important keys to solving the mystery surrounding this disorder.
